Retired Lieutenant General Vinod Bhatia, PVSM, AVSM, SM, concluded a distinguished 40-year Army career as Director General Military Operations (DGMO), pivotal in talks with Pakistan for sustained ceasefire. His strategic advisory shaped key Army policies, emphasizing Northern border capability and Line of Actual Control management. A Sainik School Ghorakhal and National Defence Academy alumnus, he served notably in Parachute Regiment, with diverse operational roles including disaster management during Sikkim Earthquake (2011) and Uttarakhand floods (2013). As Colonel of The Parachute Regiment, he bolstered Special Forces. Additionally, he co-chaired the India-US Executive Steering Group on Defence Cooperation, enhancing bilateral ties.
